So Britten wrote for harpsichord. Who knew?
mainMahan Esfahani did.
It appears Britten made a harpsichord arrangement of the William Lawes song ‘She Weepeth Sore in the Night’ for an unknown soloist in 1948. The manuscript is in the Britten catalogue but has not been played in 68 years.
The composer Colin Mathews made a quick copy of it for Mahan to play last night in San Francisco.
There are, of course, also harpsichord parts in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Phaedra.
Last night I walked out of San Francisco recital of talanted self promoter Mahan Esfahani. Inferior keyboard player with awful choice of contemporary music. There who stayed just report disgust and suffering.
Funny – I was there and it was really beautiful. Since your Facebook postings on him mostly poke at his bald spot and even make quasi-racist comments, then maybe this is taken cum grano salis?
Sniff sniff . . .
That’s a rather heartless, cruel posting, Esfir, to the whole world.
‘talanted self promoter’
Better than an untalented one, such as you appear to be.
Like skeletons copulating on a tin roof.
