    Mr Lebrecht, you mean, “Placido Domingo to sing at Popes’ canonisation”: the ceremony will include the canonisations of both John XXIII and John Paul II, though sadly many news sources, this one included, seem to be overlooking the canonisation of John XXIII.

        The circumstances of John XXIII’s beatification and canonization are rather strange. John Paul II beatified him jointly with Pius IX, and now he is to be canonized jointly with John Paul II.
