Charmian Carr was 73 and suffering from dementia.

She will forever be 16, going on 17.

    Hard to read this with dry eyes, especially if the “Sound of Music” evokes memories of one’s own childhood.

      Also: interesting to learn that Charmian’s absentee father (who apparently left the family when his wife refused to allow his mistress to move in) was a conductor named Brian Farnon. And Charmian’s uncle was the better-known conductor Robert Farnon:

      Per Telegraph: “Charmian was not to be reunited with her father until 1966, when she attended an after-premiere party of a Hollywood film at which he was the conductor of the orchestra.”
