Muti steps in to save Abbado’s orchestra
mainThe Orchestra Mozart, Abbado’s creation, was wound up last month, a few days before he died.
Now Riccardo Muti, his colleague, friend and occasional rival, has let it be known that he is bringing the orchestra together again for a tribute concert this summer at the Ravenna Festival, directed by his wife, Cristina Mazzavillani. Cristina said: ‘The most important tribute we can pay to the memory of the great conductor is to revive and continue the work of his Mozart Orchestra.’

Un gesto da grandissimo direttore e uomo come il Maestro Muti e sua moglie Cristina………ricordo di una audizione alla Scala che feci anch’io che il giovane Maestro accompagnò la moglie al pianoforte per l’audizione….mi pare che Muti avessi una giacca di velluto verde scuro….dicevano i giovani cantanti che Riccardo era una giovane promessa fin d’allora e che avrebbe fatto grandi cose!!!! Tutto si è avverato!
