Ten men who played in the Stowmarket Schools Concert Band between 1964 and 1984 are to share £210,000 in compensation from the local authority. The band was founded and directed by a teacher, Derek Cable, who was jailed for paedophile offences in 2003.

  • Sanda Schuldmann says:

Glad they will get some compensation. I don’t think that money can ever repair or mend such damage. It is amazingly sad that these men had to endure this kind of abuse.

  • Lauren says:

Surely there are ways to protect children from this hideous abuse in this day and age. Cameras in classrooms are a good start, especially in private lessons. Child-fiddler’s are the lowest of the low and should be treated accordingly.
