The maestro you’d never heard of now has two jobs
mainWhen we reported two and a half weeks ago that Rune Bergmann has been named principal conductor and artistic director of the Mieczysław Karłowicz Philharmonic in Szczecin, some readers said who? and where’s that?
Today, Rune was announced as music director of the Calgary Philharmonic in Canada from September 2017.
A 40 year-old Norwegian, Rune is being marketed by IMG Artists.
Will he stick at two jobs, or twist?
Oh, I have heard of Rune. He is now becoming more widely known, and he’s quite terrific. He will prove very well in these new appointments.
An excellent conductor and, equally important, a very nice guy, who orchestras love working with. I have seen him conduct in Oslo and he has a natural ability and ease in working, even with the most difficult scores. These two orchestras, in Szczecin and Calgary, are lucky to have him and I too believe that we will be hearing much more of him in the years to come.
Would the orchestra of Norwegian Opera post a review about him here?
Smålig kommentar, Lars
The Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra is one of the oldest and finest orchestras in Canada. It has a 40 week Season performing approximately 85 concerts to more than 100,000 audience members annually. Past Music Directors include Mario Bernardi, Hans Graf and Roberto Minczuk. The recently concluded 60th anniversary season opened with Mahler’s 7th Symphony and concluded with Mahler 8th the ‘Symphony of a Thousand”. We’re excited to have Rune Bergmann joining us as Music Director. You may not know him yet – but you will. Audiences love him as do the musicians. Stay posted.
