Related to the LSO’s bassoonist Rachel Gough?

  • Paul Silverthorne says:

Or, British orchestra picks British horn player.

Reading too quickly, I thought it was their new principal English horn ….

  • Barry Tuckwell says:

Many years ago when Hugh Seenan was appointed as principal horn, Sir Alex Gibson remarked that it would be the first time the orchestra had a first horn without an accent

  • Violin 1. says:

What an emotive headline. (Especially today)
Just for the record. He is half Scottish and studied entirely at the RCS.
    With Scottish professors. Just saying.
    Fabulous horn player tho.

  • prix d'excellence says:

Great appointment, well deserved, and many congratulations to Chris. An extremely talented French Horn player, and equally talented composer, from a very musical family. Just to put the record straight, his mother, who is a wonderful cellist is Scottish. Barry Tuckwell may wish to know that Chris has no accent either despite his Scottish connection !

    • Mr Oakmountain says:

Since Sir Alexander Gibson was Scottish, I think “having an accent” for him meant sounding English, while “not having an accent” meant sounding Scottish.
