I always liked the Heifetz version of “It Ain’t Necessarily So,” and this version has a lot of verve and good humor. Thanks for another fine one, Norman! I also get a kick out of the “subversions,” especially Cher with Larry Adler–her voice is deep enough that she could sing it in the original tenor key! Although they aren’t of this particular song, jazz record producer Fernando Gelbard once sent me some Photoshopped covers of mythical get-togethers, such as “Joan Sutherland and Marilyn Horne Sing the Metallica Songbook” and “Slim Whitman and Miles Davis Live at Montreux.” The latter looked frighteningly real, as if they were sharing a microphone…I think that one gave me nightmares!
