Another Aussie fest is on the brink
mainYesterday we reported the abrupt cancellation of Sydney Sings.
Today we learn that Brisbane Baroque is on the brink.
Artists have not been paid two months after this year’s event. Next year’s is on hold.
The festival is run by the same partnership Jarrod Carland and Shannon Pigram that created Sydney Sings. The cancellation of the Sydney event was ascribed to Mr Carland’s illness.
I performed in Bris Baroque 2016 for a measly fee… the process seemed rushed, underfunded and there was no production support for the artistic people involved in my show. If major groups like QSO, Orchestra of the Antipodes etc haven’t been paid, how can I (an individual, unrepresented artist) expect to be paid…?
