Nordics win Wigmore Hall string quartet competition
NewsThe Swedish-Norwegian group Opus 13 were declared winners last night of the Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition.
Founded in 2014, the quartet consists of two Norwegian violinists Sonoko Miriam Welde and Edvard Erdal with a pair of Swedes, Albin Uusijärvi (viola) and Daniel Thorell (cello).
In addition to the £10,000 first prize, they also went home with the Haydn prize, Mozart prize and 19th century prize.
