Helsinki’s Finlandia Hall will reopen tomorrow after three years of refurbishment.

Designed by Alvar Aalto, the landmark venue has been reconfigured as an all-day venue, with restaurants and other facilities, including two Aalto-designed apartments for the perfect sleepover.

  • Andreas C. says:

The main auditorium has also been restored to its original state, and all fixes and alterations (like acoustic panels on the sidewalks) that were installed in over the years in a desperate attempt to make it useful for orchestral and other unamplified music have been removed. For the first time in its history, the Finlandia Hall is proudly not a concert venue for classical music, just like its architect inadvertedly made it to be.

  • John Borstlap says:

    It looks extremely inhospitable.

  • Question says:

Who is the artist of the painting in Norman’s picture?
