Just in: Bolshoi issues $5 million contract to conductor
OrchestrasRussian websites have uncovered a new contract for an unnamed conductor at the Bolshoi.
The contract, running from from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2029, is worth one hundred million rubles a year,. At present exchange rates that is $4,894,654.49 over the five-year term.
The contract requires The Conductor’s participation in rehearsals, premiere performances and performances of the current repertoire, concerts on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre, as well as in tours, off-site and other events in the Russian Federation and abroad.
The director of the Bolshoi is the conductor Valery Gergiev, a close associate of president Putin.
