Netrebko is still gigging with her ex
OperaFrom the Bavarian press:
The singer Anna Netrebko will perform with Yusif Eyvazov in the Thurn and Taxis Castle Festival in Regensburg’s St. Emmeram Castle on July 27, 2025. The programme includes Giacomo Puccini’s most famous arias and duets from the operas Turandot, La Bohème, Manon Lescaut and much more. ‘It’s wonderful to perform again in a city as steeped in history as Regensburg,’ she says.

Here in Deep South USA we have the tradition of “frog gigging,” for sport and for meat. The hunter stalks the wary amphibian, hoping skillfully to wield the spear and skewer him with one deadly thrust.
I’m not sure why this image came to mind after reading this post. Neither do I know in the Netrebko-Eyvazov matchup who is the hunter and who is the prey. (Well, on second thought, there’s another image which is better left unspoken.)
Good that they are on good terms still. But it’s ridiculous that she is still being lynched for Russian-Ukrainian war and they are still trying to cancel her, whereas dozens of Russian artists with international careers happily perform both in Europe and Russia without any consequences (and with no hint of bad conscience) like Olga Peretyatko who just sang in front of Putin with Ildar Abdrazakov. But Slipped Disc doesn’t report about that.
