Not sure it‘s the best singing ever, but it‘s very virile and martial. Kind of what you what you want to hear as a last solace, the moment before Russian nukes hit London and Paris.

    • Emil says:

The “Doomsday video” at CNN – meant for this occasion, in the Cold War, ended with Nearer my God, to Thee, performed by US military musicians.

  • Jerome Hoberman says:

Well, no. Uniformly loud, beaty, unphrased.

    • V.Lind says:

It seemed to be sung with respect, which is really the most important thing. And the whole idea of singing the words is rather respectful, given France ditched their monarchy — just as easy to have offered an instrumental version. I think Sir Keir was rather caught off guard.

  • Fred Funk says:

    Followed by a viola player….Strangling a cat……

  • Philipp Lord Chandos says:

Putain, ils sont meilleurs que les Britanniques !

  • Maurice says:

It’s certainly odd to _sing_ a foreign country’s anthem, especially when done by members of the armed forces, but perhaps it was done to emphasise international solidarity.
