A group of singers rehearsing an October 7 memorial concert were forced to take shelter yesterday in the basement as 181 ballistic missiles from Iran rained down. Underground, they carried on singing a lullaby from the Terezin concentration camp.

The conductor, Hannie Ricardo, was organising the event in memory of her daughter Oriyah, who was murdered by Hamas attackers on October 7. Oriyah was 26.

You may not emerge dry-eyed.

These folks wouldn’t have to be stuck underground singing if Israel had a responsible prime minister who didn’t go around provoking wars with all of its neighbors. Instead, they have a reckless warmonger who is avoiding peace deals because the minute he’s out of power, he’ll be standing trial on corruption charges or worse.
