Leif Segerstam has last laugh on funeral notice
RIPFuneral arrangements have been announced for the late Finnish conductor Leif Segerstam.
The service will be held in Helsinki on November 8 at the Meilahti church. Later that day, Finnish National Opera will stage a memorial performance.
Typically, and presumably by his wish, the announcement of his death has been cast as a polyglot pun:
Leif live leave leaf le if
Smile if!

Thank you!
Where there was Leif, there was Life!
(Even in his epically slow Bruckner 8…)
But what does Se-lim or Sel-im mean?
That’s a nordic name (although from oriental origin). Ever heard of composer Selim Palmgren?
