Latin winner makes US debut
OrchestrasThe rising Brazilian violinist Guido Sant’Anna made a headline or two in 2022 by becoming the first South American violinist to win Vienna’s Fritz Kreisler Competition. Guido was 17 at the time.
Now 19, Guido is making his US debut next week in the Brahms concerto with Camerata Chicago Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Drostan Hall.
And so what? Overrated much?
Hope he takes his time and does not rush too much. From a quick look on Youtube, there’s a pretty good Ysaÿe excerpt (from Frankfurt) as an encore, and a quite average Schubert-Ernst Erlkönig (from Berlin), where the tuning gets progressively worse as it goes on. Nothing wrong with taking the time to slowly build up a repertoire and artistry.
He’s obviously got huge talent if he uses it right.
Chicago music lovers are fortunate that this brilliant young violinist will be making his U.S. debut with Camerata Chicago conducted by Drostan Hall. This is a wonderful orchestra and the concert promises to be exciting.
What an amazing opportunity for this promising young talent to play with Camerata Chicago! This is a truly wonderful orchestra.
Lots of success for the future for both Guido and Maestro Drostan Hall and the orchestra, not to forget Ariane, Drostan’s wife, who deals with all the organisation.
Camerata Chicago concerts are always a fantastic experience! I am very much looking forward to this one.
This will be an exciting opportunity for him to debut with the conductor, Drostan Hall and the Camerata Chicago orchestra! Drostan is sure to make this a lively and enthusiastic performance with a world class orchestra!!!
