    One weekend each season?
That sounds like a regular old guest conductor. Why the fuss?

  • Wise Guy says:

    Once a season?

  • Greg Tiwidichitch says:

It must be nice to get instant conducting cred for a conducting position just because you have a name…..

  • James says:

One weekend a season…in other words….a guest artist lending his name…

  • Jon in NYC says:

This is how he becomes the next MD of the LAPhil…! Sneaky, but I like it.

  • Roy Humphrey says:

Headline says ‘Jersey’, which is between UK and France – nowhere there the US!
Fed up with all this click-bait!

And everybody calls it Jersey. Get a life

    • V.Lind says:

Did you attend a screening of The Jersey Boys expecting a pastoral meditation on childhood life in the Channel Islands?

Have you ever heard of a TV programme called Jersey Shore? I’ve never seen it, but I would be prepared to go bail that it is not about the island to which you refer.

Jersey, in the Channel Islands, does have a Symphony Orchestra. They perform twice a year — once in summer, once at Christmas. Maybe you thought its schedule suited Joshua Bell’s commitment better…

  • Guest Conductor says:

This is an interesting move. More mid-level orchestras should consider bringing in a “name” principal guest to amp up seasonal interest.

    • Nick2 says:

No reason against the idea. But a commitment for just one week-end a season? That is a pure PR stunt.

      • Musician says:

Don’t be naive. You think this SlippedDisc article gives a comprehensive and detailed explanation of his involvement with the Symphony? Of course not! It’s to stir up outrage amongst people like you who believe everything they see on tabloid headlines.
