Eminent violinist hands over Strad to rising pupil
NewsThe outstanding British-Hungarian violinist György Pauk has owned and played the Massart Strad of 1714 almost all his musical life.
He hates to see it idle so, he tells us, ‘I have decided that I want that this great fiddle should be heard again hence I have loaned it to Julia Pusker’.
Hungarian born, Pusker studied at the Royal Academy of Music and is now based in Berlin.
Julia was a student at the Royal ACADEMY of Music. Gyorgy Pauk was a highly distinguished and much loved Professor there for many years, until his very recent retirement and Julia was one of his very many extremely talented students. This gesture of support and generosity for her is both warm-hearted and selfless. I look forward to hearing the new partnership.
I heard Pauk many times in the north of England in the 1970s. A wonderful player and a great instrument!
Honestly, I would lend her my instrument anytime if she asked.
She would prefer one that works.
Yu, you walked into that one.
I have NO idea into what age group you fit. Or what your ‘upbringing’ entailed. But as a professional woman aged in her late 70s, I’ll say one thing. You need to seriously self-reflect IF you have any aspirations to being happy or make a career in this world. Such a comment is, luckily, no longer considered either appropriate or funny.
Pusker is good, and Pauk possibly taught her a thing or two in their minimal/nominal one-on-one contact time at the RAM
