Donald Trump steals Andre Rieu clip in latest video
NewsThree seconds in, a Trump campaign video (here) uses a flash shot of the Dutch violinist and a teenaged singer in its opening sequence.
The clip, taken without permission, has been circulated by Twitter owner Elon Musk on his social media.
Rieu’s son called the video’s content ‘horrible’ but said no legal action would be taken.
I don’t think permission was obtained for this one either.

1) A glimpse of Barron’s future girlfriend and Donald’s future 4th wife
2) What “good” immigrants look like per MAGA
An election-winning sentiment. Not.
History, dear, history. Wash, rinse, repeat.
Holy moly! Don’t miss this — it’s the campest thing I ever saw, but it also reinforces every contention that this man is certifiable. I also suspect that the Rieu clip (used twice) is not the only one used without permission.
What you wrote sounds correct to me, though a bit understated.
My general response to superhero dreck and fantasy garbage is unprintable (and, actually in my real life, unsayable). This ad is just beyond belief. I am not sure it is not an opposition ad using all the Trump tropes — could he possibly be so vain as to do all that, and so stupid as to think it will attract voters?
What I find even more scary than Trump is the idea — actually the fact — that so many Americans WANT him to run their country.
Indeed, I am mystified about what makes him unique and inimitable.
His hair.
I just read a couple of other stories about this ad and it seems to be the work of Musk and/or his minions — it appeared on his X account.
Makes no sense to try to explain it to you. Just be glad the bj queen isn’t going to win.
Your taking this too far…
Yes, but what about Donald Trump??!!
Sadly he is still at large.
One of our villages reports a bombastic yet missing idiot who left with a coterie fools.
The artists should take legal action, period. That is the American way.
If they say nothing, Trump & co. will just keep doing this to more musicians. Legal action is the only thing that can possibly make Trump understand.
He’s done this to countless musicians at this point. Europeans, like Elton John, who tend to me more genteel in these situations, have repeatedly asked him politely to stop using his music. Trump doesn’t understand polite.
US artists have been very aggressive, taking legal action, going to the media & more. This is what works with Trump. He won’t respond to some polite expression of discomfort from Mr. Rieu or his son.
Elon Musk is literally the richest man in the world. He did something wrong here. Make him pay. Let him know, for the sake of all musicians, that this is unacceptable. Otherwise he will just keep doing it. Mr.
These musicians are European. Perhaps they should take legal action the European way? Why everything has to be American way? Not every street corner must have a Hilton.
Because Trump doesn’t understand the European way. He will ignore it. That was the point of my post.
The tables can be turned by selling tickets to his upcoming trials. One good turn….
Trump has also been playing Pavarotti at his rallies, despite the protestations of the singer’s widow in the past two elections. I guess the use of Italian opera and voices only ups the fascist content.
Low resolution commentary, to which we’ve become accustomed here.
Who’s going to be bawling by next week, then??!! Keep up your bright sword of vicious slurs and hatred for your fellow Americans or the dew will rust them.
Yes, indeed. And once again, Pavarotti’s widow publicly stating that she does not want Trump using those recordings, which is the civilized, European way to address this, has done absolutely nothing to deter him.
This has also been true with Sir Elton John, who has made it clear in a most dignified & elegant manner repeatedly that he does not want Trump using his music. This is the European way, not Trump’s way & Trump is still using Sir Elton’s music.
The only response that Trump understands is unadulterated aggression: legal action, threats, & more. This, unfortunately is the American way, & it’s how most US artists have finally succeeded in getting Trump to stop doing this.

As I mentioned before, Donald Trump is a fan of classical music, and his favorite conductor is Othmar Maga.
What I forgot to mention is his favorite composer. It is, unsurprisingly since The Donald is sick of winning, Ellie Siegmeister.
Andre Rieu is kind of the Trump of violin. Makes sense. Randal Goosby for Kamala campaign?
How can you possibly mention RIeu and that despicable human being in the same sentence? Musically Andre Rieu is not everyone’s cup of tea. He has, however, repeatedly acted with deep humanity.

Absolutely. I’m not a fan of his stage presence, but this is a profoundly decent human being. His only offence is giving pleasure to the masses, who are drawn to easy listening of a more classical bent.
That’s pretty harsh on Rieu, who I suspect knows perfectly well that he profits from the profoundly abysmal taste of so many. He can actually play his instrument pretty well unlike most in his particular field.
Yep, Rieu understands the essential “naffness” of his concerts. But there is a large audience for what he does, and he does it with complete sincerity. He is very professional, and his audience has a lovely time at his concerts. I can’t see why others get upset.
