Danish quartet win $150k
OrchestrasDenmark’s highest musical honour, the Leonie Sonning Music Prize worth 133,000 Euros, has stayed close to home. The 2025 winner, announced today, is the Danish String Quartet.
They say: ‘We are thankful and humbled. Denmark is a chamber music powerhouse.’
Their latest folk music album on ECM is just phenomenal – aside from the arrangements and the playing, I thought it was one of the most beautifully recorded albums I’d heard in a long time.
Congrats!
