Bychkov and Vengerov cancel, Israel Phil postpones opener
OrchestrasThe Israel Philharmonic has pushed back its season-opening concert to November 4, due to artist cancellations and other considerations.
Maxim Vengerov can’t make the date and will be replaced in the Mendelssohn concerto by Mark Bouchkov.
Semyon Bychkov has told the orchestra he’s not quite ready to return after back surgery. Lahav Shani will conduct Mahler 6.
Is this some kind of cowardice?Zino Francescatti was in Israel when the 6 day war broke out and Zino flatly refused to leave.
Hi! Bychkov also cancelled back home in Prague with his home orchestra the Czech Philharmonic so I think it’s really the back surgery problems.
