Biz news: Cliburn starts agency
NewsThe Van Cliburn Competition started a boutique management firm, to be known as the Cliburn Agency.
Its initial roster consists of relative unknowns: pianists Greg Anderson, Peter Dugan, Fei-Fei (pictured) and Clayton Stephenson, Anderson & Roe Piano Duo; and harpist Bridget Kibbey.
Jacques Marquis, Cliburn president and CEO said: ‘Our core mission is to support artists and continuously advance classical music. The management and promotion of exceptional musicians—particularly those with a specific fervor and dedication for expanding audiences and breaking down barriers—is the next step in realizing that mission. Through this new program, the Cliburn develops another powerful way to meet the moment and find new ways to expand classical music’s reach as a source of commonality and shared experience in today’s world.’
Well done…classical music needs something fresh and new…look for other avenues of success and profitability…
What happened to the separation of church and state?
Well, that is a clever quip.
One answer comes from Edgar Allen Poe:
“Quoth the raven, ‘Nevermore.'”
Relative unkowns? Perhaps true for newcomers but certainly not Anderson and Roe. They are phenomenal and innovative performers with a global following! Go see one of their concerts. You’ll walk away in awe and energized by their talents and hearts of gold.
They also did a bang-up job hosing the whole competition on YouTube.
This! Anderson and Roe are brilliant performers. What an arrogant and demeaning comment.
