  • A.L. says:

A well deserved pay raise. Munich has become another impossibly expensive trophy city, seemingly available only to the few. Those who got in early are ok. But try securing an apartment rental these days.

  • Miv Tucker says:

So they were protesting DURING the opener, not AT the opener, quite a different matter: clearly, they had no problem with the programme itself.

  • osf says:

Union solidarity is important. Hope the delay wasn’t too long, though; St. Matthew is a long show.

  • Kenny says:

    “startet”? Ist das Neu-Deutsch?

  • Cameron Paul says:

I think any musician performing St.Matthew Passion in its eternity deserves to be well rewarded.

  • David Lloyd says:

Stop moaning you have privileged jobs. Just enjoy your talents and good fortune.

As for Rattle, met him and saw him perform.
Second rate. I am from Birmingham and realized he was inferior to the best directors

    • osf says:

The strike is by the radio staff; not the glorious on-stage performers.

As for Sir Simon, two of the world’s top orchestras have now hired him as their director (three if you count the LSO), another has made him their principal guest conductor, and there’s not an orchestra anywhere in the world that wouldn’t love to engage him.

I wonder what all these groups know that you and many of the denizens of SD don’t.
