We hear that Elim Chan, the sought-after Hong Kong conductor, is leaving Classic Concert Management GmbH in Germany to join Intermusica in London.

No-one’s giving any reasons yet, but CCM have just three conductors on their books. Intermusica have 48.

There are more likely to be alert to the next vacancies.

  • Philipp Lord Chandos says:

    She’s following JEG maybe.

  • Colin Maxwell says:

Lucky Intermusica! I am still raving about Elim Chan’s Prom 1 which was for lack of a better word, breathtaking

  • John Borstlap says:

The best managements are the ones with musical understanding, and that is independent of size.

  • zandonai says:

I have it on good authority that Elim Chan will be the next Music Director at the Los Angeles Philharmonic, replacing Gustavo Dudamel.

  • Beatitude says:

Mark Swed strongly suggested as much in his review of her opening night performance with LA
Phil at the Hollywood Bowl several months ago. If true, I think that Ms. Chan would be a wonderful – and exciting -choice to lead the orchestra. Her recent performances with the LA Phil have been excellent and exceptionally well received. As a former Dudamel Fellow, she has an established pre-existing relationship with orchestra and remains in good standing with all of the principals. Fingers are crossed that Kim will make it so. She’s the real deal. An LA appointment will make her the next big thing and a worthy successor to the Dude.

    • zandonai says:

My concern is they’re choosing her for gender not for merit. So far her only calling card seems to be the “Scheherazade” and nothing more substantial.

    • Stephen says:

She’s a wonderful and musical conductor with great understanding of the music she performs. And most orchestras hit it off with her right away. Unassuming and a lovely person. A perfect choice for LA
