Famed violinist, 79
RIPThe celebrated Bulgarian soloist Stoyka Milanova died yesterday at the age of 79.
After studies with her father, then with David Oistrakh, she nudged Gidon Kremer into third place at the 1967 Queen Elisabeth Competition and went on to enjoy an international career. Radum Lupu was a regular recital partner. Later on, she play violin duets with her daughter, Yova.
She was professor for five years at the national conservatory of Venezuela, and for much longer in her native Bulgaria.
Marvelous, unsung artist. RIP.

It`s also worth mentioning that she won first prize at Carl Flesch International Violin Competition – London, 1970.
A great violinist and she was very beautiful. I treasure her recordings on Melodiya, Denon etc. R.I.P.
