China and US split Operalia prize
OperaThe joinet winners of the Domingo family’s Operalia competition in Mumbai are US soprano Kathleen O’Mara and Chinese bass-baritone Le Bu (pictured).
The audience prize was shared by Azeri mezzo-soprano Elmina Hasan and English baritone Jack Lee.
Kathleen O’Mara – member of the DOMINGO YAP.
What else is here to say
2nd prize (Women) – Elmina Hasan on roster of Domingo’s agency.
What a sham this competition is
Stop spreading conspiracy theories. Elmina Hasan was on Ariosi’s roster well before Operalia. Ariosi has no influence over the Operalia jury whatsoever! In fact, it’s quite the opposite—they would prefer him to be far removed from the event!
Kathleen is GLORIOUS. Deserved on all fronts.
While he may be Chinese, Le Bu trained in the United States at Manhattan School of Music.
And, before that, at Wichita State University.
Le Bu, wonderful artist, also won Met Laffont auditions. this year. Beautiful voice
