  • Michaëla Karadjian-Schotte says:

    45 minutes of recital…

  • James Weiss says:

Did they forget a decimal point? 12.50 is more appropriate.

  • Richard says:

    For a 45-minute recital?

  • Has-been says:

With respect isn’t it time to stop bashing Anna Netrebko. Everyone interested has had their say and it is time to move on.

  • Monty Earleman says:

For a 45-minute concert, which means 20-30 minutes of music…..

  • Carl says:

Well, 2008 Anna Netrebko was something else… even with all the airbrushing. Did they just do a Google image search for her and grab that for the poster?

  • Officer Krupke says:

    Less expensive than Broadway!

  • A.L. says:

I couldn’t get paid that sum or one even higher, no matter how bored out of mind, to go hear her badly intone and wobble her way through whatever she has chosen to …. scream. Then of course there are the issues surrounding her affiliation with Putin and Gergiev.

  • V.Lind says:

It’s a fundraiser, in the richest enclave in Fla. Of course ticket prices are high. Such events that I have attended usually include a buffet and drinks for everyone, and a late supper/meet and greet for the high end tickets.

    • Shh says:

Yep. We know where the fascists hang out.

      • V.Lind says:

I don’t doubt that the rich of Palm Beach lean toward the reactionary. But I cannot treat seriously comments that toss around the word “fascist” so lightly.

I think a primer on what fascism actually was might be enlightening for you.

  • David says:

    45 min cocktail and 45 min recital?? For 1250 you’d expect more…

  • diffugerenives says:

Looks like it is a fund raiser for the opera. The Breakers is a hotel. Rooms that time of year start at $1600/weeknight. More on weekends.

  • Chicagorat says:

“And the poster photograph is light-years out of date.”

It reminds me of the posters of the Italian Stallion (aka Riccardo Muti), a recipient of Putin’s order of friendship award, and , as we understand, also scheduled to tour in Florida next January.

He and his entourage hand pick photos from decades ago – for instance, take this official picture on the CSO website:

    https://cso.org/about/performers/conductors/riccardo-muti/

But, alas, he really look like this … and on a good day:

    :-)))

  • IP says:

Her most devoted audience consists of criminally rich Russians, and it is fair game to alleviate them of as much money as possible.

  • Alviano says:

Better than giving it to Donald Trump.

  • grabenassel says:

Wow – 45 minute recital! At least you get also 45 minutes to get drunk before…..;-))

  • Herbie G says:

Light years is a measure of distance, not time. Did you mean ‘prehistoric’ or ‘antediluvian’? I would call it ‘micturational extraction’ – unless, of course, it’s a charity fundraiser with all proceeds going to support victims of her friend’s ‘special military operation’.

  • STEPHEN BIRKIN says:

Did I read this correctly? Recital @ 7:15pm, Dinner @ 8pm? They’re unlikely to get more that 35/40 minutes of singing. It makes the Olafssohn/Wang recital in London in November look like a real bargain!!

  • Marlow says:

Think I might pass on that one!

  • Willym says:

Okay – well you see it’s what’s called a “Fund raiser” in a wealthy community so that’s the going price.

  • Imbrod says:

Hardly out of line for a fundraiser in one of the wealthiest communities in the country.

  • Radio Live says:

Oh give the woman a break!

  • Daniel Reiss says:

    Looks like a fundraising event.

  • Kenny says:

maybe His Excellency might be crouching in His Excellent Box!!!!

  • Tony Magee says:

Well, it’s a cocktail party, followed by a (short 45 min) recital and then a dinner. I would guess there is a fundraising component to this event, with a nominated charity as the beneficiary. Usually a live auction takes place as well, with spectacular donated artworks, a luxury car and a host of other items. One year we included Naming Rights to a Star (donated by Mount Stromlo Observatory in Canberra). That one went off like a rocket. I’ve produced a large number of these events and they follow a similar formula, often with a high profile artist as the centrepiece. For those of you who have seen the movie Grace on Monaco starring Nicole Kidman, you will note that Princess Grace hosted a fundraising event at the Palace, engaging Maria Callas for a short recital. Callas was only at the beginning of her career then and reasonably affordable and willing. Ticket prices of this nature are designed to attract only the wealthy and exclude the not so. It sounds snobbish I know, but “inclusion by exclusion” is the motto of such events. Just for the record, I could never afford to attend such an event, but I produced many. I’m now retired.

For “he”, read “she”… or more likely her agent – Gosconcert, is that what it’s called?
