The Lebrecht Interview returns to BBC Radio 3
NewsAfter a nine-year hiatus, I am returning to Radio 3 this Saturday to present the first of a new series of Lebrecht Interviews with leading figures in the music world.
My first subject is Michael Tilson Thomas, talking frankly about living, dying and all things in between. You will not want to miss Michael’s story of how Aaron Copland tried to stop him and Leonard Bernstein making a spectacle of themselves in a restaurant while trying to agree, with cutlery and glasses, on a tempo for Stravinsky’s Les Noces.
This Saturday at 10pm London time. Right here.
What a surprise – something of real interest on Radio 3!
Well, I have been enjoying Radio 3 evening concerts for years. And now the Proms concerts. Try it sometime.
Not really, it’s MTT – always a bore.
Looking forward to your interviews. Good luck!
So, suddenly the Beeb is ok again! I’m actually looking forward….
One swallow does not a summer make.
I realy like the itw of Chailly 10 years ago.
Great news. Welcome back. Some maturity returning to Radio Three
Congratulations. Starting with MTT sets the bar high. Best of luck going forward.
Wonderful, Norman. Wish i could receive it here in the USA.
I believe you will be able to view in the USA all of Norman’s upcoming interviews on Radio 3 for a time after the initial broadcast. Check it out next Saturday or Sunday.
Nearly all BBC radio programmes can be heard, both live and subsequently, via a free app called BBC Sounds. I believe it’s available worldwide.
The same is NOT true for BBC television programmes.
Thank you.
Will it be made available on streaming services later ?
Cool!
Good news! Await with interest.
Excellent news. Generally, wonderful interviews. The Bychkov interview was especially fine.
Amazing! I’ll be listening. Do try to behave.
Very good news. Hope you will be interviewing JEG, the head of the Arts Council and the Chairman of the ENO. Not all at once.
bought you off have they?
What a beautiful interview. I was concerned how MTT might be in this interview, but, boy, was he on form: lucid, very funny, erudite, relaxed…. It was a wonderfully paced session. Thank you for capturing something that will, I think, become very special in time. It was a real privilege to hear.
Yes, absorbing programme. Nearly 80 MTT still has the teenager in him – eg, great imitation of Solti.
Lovely interview with MTT Norman- I love the bit where you quiz him on the free & easy culture in California growing up in the 60’s. Lovely to hear the maestro playing CPE Bach on the hotel piano at the end- reminding us of his talents on the keyboard also
