The widely acclaimed ‘father of British blues’ has died aged 90 in California, where he moved in the 1970s.

His Bluesbreakers group is remembered chiefly for the couple of years in the mid-1960s when Eric Clapton was their guitarist.

While that’s probably *technically* true, that seems to leave a lot of the importance of the story out. Don’t forget Peter Green, Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Mick Taylor, Jack Bruce, Aynsley Dunbar, a lot of later-famous musicians went through that group.

R.I.P. I still keep his “The Turning Point” CD and play it occasionally.
