Death of movie music pioneer, 72
RIPThe death has been recorded in Richmond, California, of Douglass Fake, who produced some 700 albums of movie music on his label, Intrada.
Among his exhumations were the uncut score of Leonard Bernstein’s On the Waterfront, Miklos Rozsa’s Ivanhoe, John Williams’ Jaws and Jerry Goldsmith’s Alien.
Old movie artwork could be very terrible, like this example. The man looks a bit like Brando but nothing like Eva Marie Saint. BTW, she turned 100 on July 4.
Whoops, that should be, “the woman looks nothing like Eva Marie Saint.
What a shame, he wasn’t old old. He was a strong advocate for bringing music for films into the concert hall. His company provided recordings of so much great film music that no one else would do. I hope Intrada keeps going strong; CDs aren’t dead…yet. RIP.
