Biz news: Chopin Youtuber gets an agent
NewsThe Japanese pianist Hayato Sumino, better known by his Youtube handle ‘Cateen’, has signed with ex-Cami chief Doug Sheldon at Sheldon Artists, NY.
Sumino, 29, has 1.3 million Youtube subscribers.
He has been playing Chopin from age 3, reaching the semi-finals of the 2022 Warsaw Chopin Competition.
In other agency moves, the Brooklyn Rider ensemble have switched to Felix Nieto at Arts Management Group on 57th Street.
He is a very fine pianist and reached the semi-finals of the Chopin Competition in 2021. Some of his youtube videos are amazing!
Most of them aren’t. If he were really that fine, he wouldn’t have got kicked out. His Chopin 2nd sonata is utterly dire.
He should stick to what he’s good at…short videos featuring him playing jingle bells with one hand and a cheap set of handbells in the other.
