Bavarian Academy has first woman chief
NewsThe Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts has chosen the cellist and singer Salome Kammer to be head of its music section.
Kammer, 65, is the first woman to hold the post since the Academy’s foundation in 1948.
She is married to the distinguished Heimat filmmaker Edgar Reitz.
Also a terrific actor, unforgettable as Clarissa Lichtblau in Reitz’s Die Zweite Heimat
“First woman…” again.
When will it ever stop
An excellent choice. And high time that the music section had a new head. She seems to be the sort of person who will adopt a more holistic approach, and look at art, events, PR, press, as well as financial aspects, particularly regarding concert series held not in the Academy building itself.
