Happy birthday to a great pianist
Be amazed, indeed. If I could play 1/10th as well as she is at her age, I’d die happy.
1/1000 as well for me!
Is this Martha’s birthday or ours ? =)))
I loved it. She makes the lyrical section in the last movement so gorgeous, softer than most and arrestingly beautiful. Like playing a game, bringing out the charm, the whimsy, character and total joy of playing this music as if she herself composed it at the piano on the spot. 83. OMG. Inspires us to keep going. Fabulous conductor and orchestra!
Yes, I was hoping the conductor would be named. He is a pleasure to watch, no theatrics and not trying to steal the limelight.
It was Christian Arming.

Feliz cumpleaños, Martita-querida!
Good job, Martha. Just remember, thou shalt not ever say in public who nuked the city.
And just ignore Pearl Harbor
83?! Must be base 5.
In retrospect, I have committed a faux pas. In base 5 there is no 8. But you get the idea.

The orchestra is good but a bit on the safe side … What an artist she is, the Schumann encore is so full of life and spirit. Thanks Martha. Just wish she had played Chopin Studies or Schumann 1st sonata…
Happy Birthday to one of the greatest pianists of all time! It is astounding that she is still performing at 83. Keep it going, Martha, I still hope to see you perform one day!
