Lament for hyperactive Boston violinist, 88
RIPThe funeral takes place today for Maynard Goldman, a freelance violinist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Boston Pops, and concertmaster of Boston Lyric Opera, Boston Ballet and the Portland Symphony Orchestra.
When the (UK) Royal Ballet toured America, Goldman was its leader.
He was Director of Applied Music at Concord Academy and, in retirement, a fixer for most of the ensembles in the state.
Norman, thank you for this notice. Maynard was an extremely important figure in Boston’s musical scene for decades. His absence will be keenly felt and his memory enthusiastically celebrated.
Given the context, likley an inappropriate use of the term hyperactive
Maynard was the quintessential professional in all that he did. In addition to the accomplishments listed above, he was the contractor for numerous musical organizations in the New England area. His attention to detail and degree of planning were unusual. For string players, all parts were meticulously marked personally by him so as to not waste rehearsal time. He will be sorely missed.
RIP dear Maynard.
