Dresden’s Frauenkirche has completed a gruelling audition of 29 candidates for its vacant organ bench.

The winner was also one of the youngest. Niklas Jahn comes from Fulda in Hesse. He studied church music, organ improvisation and choir conducting in Mainz and Freiburg.

    Niklas (NB not Nilkas) Jahn was joint 1st Prizewinner in the 2023 improvisation competition at the St Albans Organ Festival.

      No, Matthias Grünert will stay Frauenkirchenkantor. This audition was held in order to find a successor for the late Samuel Kummer who was let go as Frauenkirchenorganist 2 years ago.
