Cat walks through Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony
OrchestrasThe high point of the Lucerne Strings performance in Istanbul was a hightailed intervention by a local stray.
As soon as the cat saw there was no conductor, it quickened the tempo.

After the “Pastoral” they performed an orchestral arrangement of Scarlatti’s “Cat” Fugue.
No I think they played Purr Elise.
That was the opener before the Meow-skovsky violin concerto.
We know that cats like to do ‘their business’ in a natural environment rather than in a cats’ litter box….. So, when they hear something about a landscape they go explore. You can see this cat is thinking: Hey? All wood here, no soil.
Seems to be a local tradition.

Let’s us hope they keep up with their wonderful tradition, and that other countries emulate them.
This frolicsome feline knows a good tune when it nears it, but would perhaps prefer Tails of the Vienna Woods.
Or maybe some Rossini

A few other repertoire suggestions…
The Stokowski orchestration of Bach’s D-minor TocCATa and Fugue…
The pizziCATo movement from Tchaikovsky’s Fourth…
An aria from •La Wally• by CATalani…
And any composer’s MagnifiCAT.
Istanbul is a very cat friendly city.
Is this orchestra normally conductorless or is this a one-off experiment?
Conductorless? Not so sure. Maybe it was Gatti…
Perhaps the cat wanted to apply for a job.
Doesn’t look like the cat cared about the viola players…
Perhaps because they use catgut strings.
The cat was marking its territory to ensure the orchestra has at least nine lives.
The city of cats!
