Brussels winner gets Paris job
OrchestrasThe Orchestre de Paris has chosen Stéphanie Huang as principal cellist, it is reported in Brussels.
The Belgian cellist, 28, audience favourite in the 2022 Queen Elisabeth competition, also starts as guest professor at the Royal Conservatorium in Brussels.
Good for her!
She was amongst the 12 finalists of the 2022 Queen Elisabeth competition.
Good for her, though this does really feel like a ‘French’ style appointment… she practically doesn’t have any orchestral experience – either in general or even as section leader… Here’s to hoping it all goes well – successfully holding together a section requires more than just pure musical talent.
