Welsh soprano: I’m a carer now because there’s no work
OperaMezzo-soprano Leah Marian Jones described her difficult situation to BBC Radio Cymru at yesterday’s Senedd protest over WNO funding cuts. She said: ‘I’m a carer for old people. I get them up in the morning, take them to the toilet and dress them and feed them.’
The company has been stripped of 35% of ACE money and 11.8% of Welsh AC cash.
Organiser Elizabeth Atherton said: ‘We are literally singing for our future.’
