Ohio picks busy Japanese maestro
OrchestrasThe Dayton Philharmmonic Orchestra has chosen Keitaro Harada as its next Music and Artistic Director.
He is 39 and has another orchestra in Georgia, the Savannah Philharmonic.
Harada succeeds Neal Gittelman, who is retiring after 30 years.
It is spelled, by the way, “Neal Gittleman.”
Congrats Kei! I played with him in the Sierra Vista symphony and when he substituted for Cal Kelllogg with the West Valley Symphony – excellent conductor and fine musician. Good luck!
This continues the trend of American orcherstras giving cold shoulder to American-born conductors. Disgraceful.
