Kaufmann’s cough: Medical bulletin
OperaThe tenor has posted:
Unfortunately, laryngitis has forced me to cancel tomorrow’s concert in Munich. Canceling is always a very last resort, but in this case I am not well enough to perform. Tickets will be refunded. I appreciate your understanding and support, and look forward to performing for you again very soon!
That’s The Sound of Movies concert tonight at the Isarphilharmonie.
He’s due on London in May 16 for Covent Garden’s farewell gala for Antonio Pappano.
ENT specialists at the NHS are duly alerted.
This “Sound of Movies” tour is an awful affair. Someone from heaven won’t let him do it.
I am pretty sure a private consultant would be on stand-by these days, as the NHS is nowadays a service reserved for the under-privileged who prefer pop music or musicals to high art such as a liederabend or a full length opera, rather than just extracted arias.
How crass.
Singing through acute laryngitis is how he sounds anyway any day so what difference does it make?
Kaufmann seems to have had an awful lot of these “last resorts” over the years. He’s been quite unreliable. Great when he performs if you can get him on the stage.
Here we go again
I’m thinking we won’t be seeing him in London over the next month or so
Talking about tenors why is B Bernheim not engaged by ROH again in the new season
His time in the sun is over. He will now only be remembered as the World’s Greatest Tenor Who Cancels…
The picture shows how bad his condition is… so, have more mercy.
