The Faculty of Music at the University of Cambridge wishes to appoint a musicologist specialising in the period before c.1700 to the post of Assistant Professor, starting on 1 January 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter, and extending to 31 December 2026. This post arises as cover for a European Research Council Consolidator Grant ending in December 2026 and is dependent on the underpinning grant funding remaining in place.

There’s a turn up for the books! An academic vacancy, in the Faculty of Music of a major university, whose requirements don’t mention ‘diversity’, ‘multi-cultural’, ‘equalities’ or ‘broad spectrum’ and which insist on demonstrable musical ability.
Bigotry personified … yet again …
What’s the salary? I might consider if it offers remote work, 4 weeks vacation, a posh office, good medical/dental with mental health support.
