Czech media have reported the death of Jiří Žigmund, violist of the Wihan Quartet from 1988 to 2014.

He has suffered longterm health problems.

    Very sad news… Long years ago I got to perform Mendelssohn octet alongside him, he was one of the most naturally gifted musicians I’ve ever met. RIP Ziggy
