The violinist Kyu-Young Kim has resigned after eight years as SPCO artistic director, citing ‘recent organizational decisions and shifts in priorities.’ He will continue to play as principal violin.

The musicians’ union at the SPCO said it was ‘devastated that the actions of the orchestra’s management have caused Kyu to resign from his role as artistic director.’ The causes it listed were ‘to eliminate many of our venues and community concerts and to drastically shorten our season.’

There has been no comment from Jon Limbacher, managing director and president.
