Such a sweet and supportive person. RIP David
He was an alumnus of the London Opera Studio, in the late 80s. He seemed to have the world at his feet, but he probably did too much too soon. I saw him do Rodolfo for Scottish Opera, around 1990. Magnificent.
I think he then developed a few vocal problems, but still managed to have a decent career, if not the career that had seemed possible.
RIP Far too young.
I sang with David in Opera North’s ‘Gianni Schicci’ – he had one of the finest young tenor voices I’d ever heard and a handsome, charismatic stage presence. A very sad loss. RIP
Apologies: ‘Gianni Schicchi’
Correction – NATIONAL Opera Studio.
Awful news. David started as a baritone and was a very promising tenor by the time our study paths crossed at the RCM Opera Department in the mid-1980s. He was quite clearly a talent to watch. Sincerest condolences to his nearest and dearest.
Profoundly sad and shocked to hear of David’s sudden passing. He was a dear friend whose intelligence, sensitivity and ability to make me laugh will be sorely missed.
So saddened by this. He will be greatly missed. No words…
I met David at Cambridge when we were cast in a play together. He was an absolute joy – so charismatic, charming and funny. I find it hard to take in this very sad and shocking news. What a terrible loss.
