Avi has plucked the instrument from classical obscurity and thrust it into the maelstrom of contemporary music. ‘The smallest kid can pluck a mandolin and sound comes out,’ he confides. ‘It still charms me, excites me, moves me, til today. The entry point is relatively quick.’
‘I am bored quickly, which is a blessing for an artist.’
