Daniel Hyde will be the City of London Choir’s third Musical Director since its foundation in 1963, succeeding Hilary Davan Wetton who retired in 2023.
Stellar appointment. Congrats to all at City of London Choir.
Stellar – really? He is seriously overrated but has very good connections. Typical…
Unfashionable view, but…
Let’s hope the concerts aren’t as sh*t as his performance of The Creation here last autumn. Talk about a dull as dishwater appointment!
OK – who was the first conductor then?
Good for the choir, bad for Daniel, should’ve stayed in Cambridge.
Daniel is not leaving King’s. He is adding City of London Choir to his portfolio.
What a fabulous musician he is. A hugely exciting and talented upgrade for all of us in the CLC. A richly deserved appointment following a wonderful Brahms Requiem at Cadogan Hall.
Shame it wasn’t Mark Williams
