His luxury replacement was local favourite Klaus Florian Vogt.

  • Chris Jones says:

Why is this even news? Jump-ins happen every night across the German-speaking opera houses. No cover system means that it’s standard practice to fly someone in.

  • Ragnar Danneskjoeld says:

The cast change was announcrd two days prior. Hardly last minute.

  • Zandonai says:

I heard Domingo in Met “Walkure” he was great. Their loss.

  • RW2013 says:

    “luxury” lol
At least Brandon sings as if he has a pair.

    • David A. Boxwell says:

“Ooh, you are awful… but I like you!”

    • Emilee says:

I actually spoke to Maestro Levine at Pedelson’s one afternoon *many* years ago about that. I noted KFV was an interesting choice, as I had not heard him before. He reminded me in Wagner’s original time, the tenors chosen to sing that rep were not so steely voiced as they are cast today. He was double cast with Heppner. His take was KFVs voice was closer to what Wagner himself may have wanted back in the day.
