Perhaps an obvious observation to readers of this blog, but Vladimir Dukelsky was a serious composer under that name, often linked with Prokofiev in terms of style, but in American as “Vernon Duke” (Gershwin suggested the Americanization of his name) he composed many hit songs including April in Paris, Taking a Chance on Love, I Can’t Get Started, and other standards.
