Germany’s first woman professor of bassoon
OrchestrasThe superb London bassoonist Amy Harman has been appointed Professor of Bassoon at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf, starting in two months time. She is the first woman to hold a German chair in that role.
Amy, 37, has been professor at the Royal Academy of Music for the past 11 years and is former principal bassoon of the Philharmonia Orchestra and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. She is the daughter of the Labour politician Harriet Harman.
